1. Is the WIFI free throughout the hotel?

Not only is the WIFI free in the public areas and the rooms, but many of the rooms also have complimentary corded hi speed internet access.
In addition, there is a business centre with 4 PC stations and free internet access.

2. Which credit cards does The American Colony Hotel accept?

We accept Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express credit cards.

3. Is the room rate per person or per room?

All our room rates are per room with up to 2 people in a room. In the larger room categories, it is possible to add a third person. Information on this is on our rates page or click on Book Now.

4. Are breakfast and taxes included in the room rates?

A full buffet breakfast is included in the room rate, served in our Arabesque restaurant or weather permitting in the Courtyard.
All taxes are included in in the room rate, except VAT, which is only payable by Israeli citizens.

5. What are the different buildings at The American Colony Hotel and what rooms are available in each building.

There are 4 main buildings at the American Colony Hotel. Descriptions of the buildings as well as details on room types in each building can be found in our Buildings page.

6. Does The American Colony Hotel have fitness facilities?

We have recently completely redesigned and refurbished our pool, with cascading waterfalls and hanging gardens. The pool area also includes a sauna, massage and fitness centre for the use of hotel guests. Details available on our facilities page.

7. Can The American Colony Hotel arrange an airport pick-up service?

Yes. Please contact us to check the price and arrange this service. 

8. Does The American Colony Hotel have a car park?

We have a free open car park for use of the hotel guests and visitors. Reservations are not possible and it is based on a first come first served basis.

9. Can I use my mobile / cell phone in Jerusalem?

Of course you can. Either check the roaming details of your current mobile operator (usually expensive in Israel) or purchase an Israeli SIM card if your mobile / cell phone is unlocked (a much cheaper option).

10. How far is The American Colony Hotel from The Old City and other Jerusalem attractions?

It is about a 10 minute walk to either Herod’s Gate or the Damascus Gate (two of the entrances to the Old City).
 Most other Jerusalem attractions are a taxi or tram ride away. Our Concierge can help you plan trips and advise you on the best way to get around.

11. Is it safe to walk around Jerusalem at night?

Most areas of Jerusalem are safe to walk around at night. Our Concierge will be able to help you plan your evening trips.

12. Can I pay with Dollars, Euros, Shekels? What do I bring?

Our rates are quoted in US Dollars, but you can pay in all major currencies. It is best to bring some local currency (or exchange at the airport or the hotel) and also a credit card.

13. Can the American Colony arrange day trips and tours?

Our Concierge will be happy to sit with you and arrange tours and day trips within Jerusalem (local holy sites for all the main religions, museums, walking tours etc.) or elswhere in Israel, the West Bank, or to Jordan. We can also arrange visits to archeological sites throughout the country.
